Tip of the Hat: The Wealthy Freelancer
March 9, 2010
As many of you know, I am celebrating my one year anniversary in business for The Northern Edge this month. This milestone is a big one for me, and I’ve planned a series of announcements and special posts to mark the date.
To this point, the announcements have been all about The Northern Edge – the unveiling of my new logo and business name (formerly Edge VA), and a post outlining the target market and niche to which The Northern Edge will be focusing on for 2010 and beyond.
The announcements are obviously important and exciting – but mostly for me! This post, and subsequent “Tip of the Hat” posts are dedicated to my clients, past and current in thanks and appreciation for partnering with me for their virtual assistant needs.
Client: The Wealthy Freelancer
Perhaps my most complicated client, and one of my most recent additions, is the team at TheWealthyFreelancer.Com. To this point as a VA, I have primarily worked with solo business owners in support of their online business ventures. So, when I started working with Pete Savage, Ed Gandia and Steve Slaunwhite, the co-Founders of TheWealthyFreelancer.com, I realized quickly that extra care and attention to clear communication and organization would be required (hence the complicated).
Project management is really key in keeping the multiple projects and time-lines organized. Weekly meetings for updates and tasks keeps everyone on the same page, plus it keeps me, as their VA, in the loop as an involved team member.
As freelancers themselves, these guys really are the “ideal client”, and they fit my target client profile perfectly. The best part? The team found me through Twitter and within a couple hours of a daily “good morning” tweet, DM contact and follow-up email conversation, we were on the phone in Consultation.
So what makes this client so wonderful?
They know what they want, and respect the work that I do with and for them.
They know what it’s like to balance the needs of multiple clients with multiple deadlines that can and inevitably change, despite the best planning.
They know how to delegate and trust in my ability to get it done. Further, they look for my input on the best ways to do it.
They are great guys. This group of professionals are well respected not only for their expertise, but also for their personalities. They are genuinely likeable!
When I first started working with Ed, Pete & Steve, they were in the final stages of releasing their new book – The Wealthy Freelancer: 12 Secrets to a Great Income and an Enviable Lifestyle. I count myself as one of the lucky few that have had the opportunity to read the book prior to the official release earlier this month (March 2).
I wish I had been able to read this book one year ago, when I was first starting out at as a freelancer – I probably could have avoided a few costly mistakes.
Unlike some books I’ve read on internet business, The Wealthy Freelancer doesn’t just tell you what to do – Pete, Steve & Ed have also given you the how and why to go about achieving the lifestyle that you want. The 12 secrets that they discuss are based on real world examples from their own experiences and the experiences of other freelancers in all markets and types of business. They give you the background behind why each secret is important, and they clearly outline plans on how to go about using each secret. This is a book that will have you scribbling away in your notebook, or at the very least on the worksheets inside!
The timing of this post couldn’t have been planned (even had I tried) any better, as The Wealthy Freelancer’s official Amazon launch begins today! As incentive to buy the book this week (before midnight, Friday, March 12) the guys are giving away some amazing Bonus Instructional Materials.
As their VA, I have seen these products first hand – they sell at the regular price daily – and I have to say that they really are fantastic. These bonuses aren’t just extra stuff they had lying around – it’s quality content that will definitely complement the book.
If you are interested at all, you really should check out their offer: thewealthyfreelancer.com/amazon. By the way, I approached them to ask if I could post about their book, because I really do think it’s that good and I know so many online professionals that could benefit from reading The Wealthy Freelancer.
So there you have it, a “Tip of the Hat” to the co-Founders of TheWealthyFreelancer.Com – I’m thankful to be celebrating this business milestone while working with truly incredible clients!
I’ll be highlighting clients all month long so please stay tuned for more. And by all means, let me know what you think – I love comments!!
